The NCIA Youth in Transition School is one of 75 non-public schools
in Maryland accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education
to provide services by age, handicapping condition, and degree of student
need. The school is a full-day special education school for students
from ages 14 through 21 with autism, emotional disturbance, and/or mental
retardation.
Students at the school must be referred by their local public school
system and then that system and the Maryland State Department of Education
must approve the funding for the student. Our students come from 6 states
and more than 30 local school systems. Each state and school system
has its own unique requirements and regulations that the school must
meet.
